at the threshold devotions: Wednesday March 12

Share: A moment from today when you felt close to God, and a moment when you felt far from God.

Look: where have you experienced openness so far this week? where have you experienced closed doors, or a closed mind, or a closed spirit? What have you seen as you’ve looked for “open”?

Read: Psalm 118.19-20

Open the gates of righteousness for me

so I can come in and give thanks to the Lord!

This is the Lord’s gate;

those who are righteous enter through it.

Ponder and Pray: set a timer for two minutes, and spend that two minutes silently imagining what “the gates of righteousness” or “the Lord’s gate” looks like. Picture it in your mind, down to the smallest detail. How big is the gate? What is it made of? What color is it? If you touch it, what does it feel like? Who is there at the gate? What is on each side of the gate? Where are you standing when you picture it? At the end of the two minutes, ask God to open wide the gate and give you courage to come in and give thanks.
