Young people are an integral part of the community at PCOP. They are included in worship, both as participants and leaders. There is a children's bulletin with activities relating to the scripture passage, for those who need to keep their hands busy. Occasionally throughout the year we offer Children's Church during the sermon, allowing young people to explore the scripture in a more interactive way.
The children of PCOP have also taken the lead on teaching us about hospitality, especially for our PADS guests. They challenged us to fill our fish banks for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, raised the money for new mattresses for the shelter, gathered socks for those who spend their winter days out in the cold, and regularly write notes and make decorations that brighten the lives of people who come through our doors looking for food and shelter.
Throughout the year the children engage in special projects, which have included a Martin Luther King Day project, the Ron Santo walk for Juvenile Diabetes, and leading in worship.
Our goal for young people in our church family is that they learn God's story and put it into action through hospitality, service, crafts, games, music, and more.
