Welcome to our front porch--the place for sharing news, seeing what's going on, resting a while, meeting new people, and maybe sometimes peeking into the house. From this vantage point you can hop right over the doorstep or you can linger a while enjoying the view. One of the most important pieces of our faith tradition is the practice of hospitality--we believe every person that we come in contact with is a child of God, made in the image of God, our brother and sister in Christ, and we welcome you as we welcome Jesus in our midst.
On Sundays we worship together at 10am. At 11-ish there's a time of coffee and conversation, and choir rehearsal begins at 11:30. A nursery staffed by trained volunteers is available for pre-kindergarten aged children. Children are always welcome in worship!
This Sunday, September 4, 9am: Worship Through Service
This Labor Day weekend we glorify God with our labor, using our regular worship time to serve God by serving our neighbors. We gather at 9am instead of 10 for a hymn sing and prayer service, then we divide up into groups to go out and do various volunteer mission projects that help our neighbors. This year we will be serving at Winston Campus, the Palatine Township Food Pantry, and the homes of some senior citizens who can't afford the help they need. For those who have difficulty with mobility, dexterity, vision, etc, we have some projects that we do in the church for local agencies--two projects for Journeys, one for Winston Campus, and one for our PADS site. We have opportunities for all ages and all abilities to worship God through service this Sunday! Afterward, we gather to share our experience over a meal provided by the restaurant closest to the church building (Napoli pizza), supporting our neighborhood by supporting local business. Join us at 9am on Labor Day Sunday as we worship through service!
The front lawn is a community garden, with produce being donated to the food pantry--follow the progress in the gallery! If you'd like to help with weeding, harvesting, planting, watering, or any other aspect of helping to feed our neighbors from our abundant land, please contact Lyn!
