PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN’S PURPOSE

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible Study to support the mission of the church worldwide to work for justice and peace and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church(USA) and to witness to the promise of God’s kingdom.

WELCOME

All women of PCOP are members of Presbyterian Women (PW). You are invited and encouraged to attend a PW Circle, assist in PW mission projects and fundraisers, join our social gatherings and attend the annual PW retreat. You will be enthusiastically welcomed. There are two PW circles that meet monthly for Bible study between September and May. One is in person at PCOP on the third Wednesday of the month and the other circle meets via zoom on the third Saturday of the month.

Our major fundraiser is a Christmas Cookie Walk, which includes a sale of gently used Christmas Treasures. Santa comes too! All proceeds go to local church needs and local, national and international organizations. Fellowship includes Movie Night (dinner and a movie) and of course popcorn. Attend a brunch (Grace Circle – December and May) and summer evening gatherings in member’s homes.

Many other activities come up throughout the year. In August, we enjoyed a Riverboat Cruise on the Fox River in St. Charles, Illinois. The PW spring retreat is a weekend of Bible Study, fellowship and friendship. It is a time of reflection, relaxation and renewal. For many years, the retreat was held at St. Mary’s of the Lake in Mundelein, IL – a beautiful, wooded setting. In April 2025, the retreat will be held at the Siena Retreat Center in Racine, WI, which is set on the banks of Lake Michigan.
